What my Final Project is going to be.

I have rethought my final project idea.  I am going to teach my 2nd grade students how to search for information on the internet and how to know if it is real of not.   This is something that I use in my classroom for my students.   We discuss why we look up information, how we do it and what that information is going to tell us.

I teach them to use www.kiddle.co and how to navigate that.  This year I have not taught my students this topic yet so we are going to be doing that in order to research about different states.  I can't wait to tell you how it goes.

  1. First, I love the robot in the picture. I can’t tell if it is upset that I don’t know what Kiddle.co is or that I haven’t gone there already. That being said, I did check out the site as I had never heard about it before. I really like the concept. The idea of using bigger thumbnails to help kids search through results is awesome (among the many other changes they made).

I do enjoy the content of the lesson as well. Everyone is exposed to the internet and ads now. So, it is probably for the best to start teaching internet evaluation techniques early on. I hope your students enjoy the lesson and learn a lot!

  3. I have never heard of Kiddle before but this is a great idea! Too often students don't learn about using and double checking what they learn online until it is much too late. Can't wait to read and see how your lesson goes!

  4. I know I commented on this in the beginning but I will try again. I, too, have not heard of Kiddle.com. Is it set up for mainly primary grades or does it go higher? I will have to check into this. I like the idea of working through this type of lesson with the students and seeing what they do or do not know about a web search.
